Revert entity to a previous state

Every time an entity (asset, ticket, user profile, location, etc.) is updated or deleted, the platform automatically saves a snapshot of its previous state. An admin can browse these snapshots and revert the entity to any earlier version. This is the primary recovery mechanism when a field was accidentally overwritten, a record was incorrectly modified, or data quality issues are discovered after the fact. The revert is tracked in the entity history so there is always a complete audit trail of what changed and when.

Voor wie

Beheerders, medewerkers en IT-teams die ITLedger gebruiken voor dienstverlening, assets, compliance en rapportages.

Who can do this: Tenant administrator

Before you start

  • Use an account with access to the stated page and permission for the chosen action.

Safeguards

  • Reverting a record restores the field values from the selected snapshot but does not undo any downstream effects (e.g. notifications sent, tickets created).
  • If a record has been hard-deleted, there is no snapshot to revert to. Snapshots only exist for records that were saved at least once.
  • Reverting creates a new history entry — it does not erase the incorrect change from the audit trail.
  1. Open the entity record that needs to be reverted (asset, location, ticket, etc.).
  2. Go to the "History" tab on the entity detail page.
  3. Browse the timeline to find the snapshot that reflects the correct state.
  4. Click "Revert to this version" on the desired snapshot.
  5. Review the field values that will be restored.
  6. Confirm the revert.
  7. Verify the record now shows the correct data.

Expected outcome: The user has reviewed the result of revert entity to a previous state in the application.
