Add Resource Records
Add CMDB records through the page for the resource type. Hardware, applications, certificates, contacts and other resource types have their own forms and permissions.
Who can do this: Tenant administrator, Operator
Before you start
- Use an account with access to the stated page and permission for the chosen action.
Safeguards
- Do not describe a single generic asset schema; the app uses type-specific resource pages and table-specific form configuration.
- Create actions can be hidden by permissions or feature flags even when the route exists in code.
- Duplicate resource records cause confusion in ticket linking, visualizations, reporting, and assistant answers. Search first.
- Decommissioned assets should usually have their lifecycle/status updated instead of being deleted, so history and ticket links remain understandable.
- Choose the resource type and open its table under Assets or Contacts.
- Search the table first to avoid duplicate records.
- Use the visible Create/Add action if their permissions allow editing that table.
- Fill the active form sections for the selected resource type; do not invent fields that are not shown in the form.
- Add ownership, lifecycle/status, location, relationship, and document details when those are relevant to the resource type.
- Save and verify the new record appears in the table or opens at its detail route.
Expected outcome: The user has reviewed the result of add resource records in the application.
