Explore and Restore Attachments
Attachment Explorer gives authorized admins a tenant-wide inventory of uploaded documents across entities. It presents attachments in a folder-style tree, resolves entity names where possible, supports search, shows lifecycle state, and allows download or restore of soft-deleted attachments. Richard should use this for audit, recovery, and troubleshooting questions, while explaining that normal document management still happens from the related entity screen.
Who can do this: Tenant administrator, Operator
Before you start
- Use an account with access to the stated page and permission for the chosen action.
Safeguards
- The default active view includes active attachments plus recently deleted attachments from the visible recovery window.
- Deleted attachments are visible for 0-7 days, hidden from normal views after that, and treated as pending purge through day 29 in the explorer UI.
- Restore makes the retained attachment active again; it does not explain the original deletion.
- Unavailable entity names can appear as fallback identifiers.
- Configuration access to Attachment Explorer requires document edit permission.
- Go to Configuration → Attachment Explorer.
- Search by filename, path, or entity type if needed.
- Choose the lifecycle filter: active, deleted visible, or deleted hidden.
- Browse the folder tree and select a file node to inspect details.
- Review the resolved path, raw path, entity, MIME type, size, and dates.
- Download the file if the user needs to inspect its contents.
- If the file is soft-deleted and should be recovered, use Restore and confirm.
- Refresh or re-open the node to verify the lifecycle state changed back to active.
Expected outcome: The user has reviewed the result of explore and restore attachments in the application.
