Roles determine which records and administration pages a user may view or edit. Read access does not grant permission to save changes. Operators may receive access to specific administration tools without becoming tenant administrators.

Understand the permission and access model
Roles determine which records and administration pages a user may view or edit. Read access does not grant permission to save changes. Operators may receive access to specific administration tools without becoming tenant administrators.
Who can do this: Tenant administrator, Operator
Before you start
- Use an account with access to the stated page and permission for the chosen action.
Safeguards
- A visible page alone does not establish permission to change its data.
- Review the effective permissions rather than relying only on the role name.
- If a required permission is absent from the editor, ask the product administrator to investigate; do not work around the permission boundary.
- Open Configuration → User Management → Roles and inspect the selected role’s permission grid.
- Find the relevant resource or administration area.
- Review read, create, edit and delete access separately.
- With a suitable test account, verify which records and pages are visible and whether changes are allowed.
Expected outcome: The user has reviewed the result of understand the permission and access model in the application.
